Montevina-Based Sony Vaio FW, Z, SR, BZ Coming This Summer

The new Sony VAIO notebook PCs - FW, Z, SR, and BZ series - will come out this summer.


These VAIO laptops are based on Intel’s Centrino 2 “Montevina” mobile platform with Core 2 Duo “Penryn” 45nm processors. Some of the notebooks have new screen sizes, such as 16.4-inch and 13.1-inch.


The Sony VAIO FW is a 16.4? multimedia-oriented laptop, replacing the FZ series, accordingly. The listed FW models have 3GB or 4GB of RAM, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and Blu-Ray Disc drives in select models.


The VAIO Z-Series is an ultraportable notebook featuring a 13,1-inch screen with 16:9 ratio and probably a resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels. The Sony VAIO Z has an HDMI output. The revealed Z VAIOs have 2GB of system memory, and up to 250GB of storage.


Sony’s upcoming VAIO SR laptops have 13.3-inch displays, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and up to 250GB HDD.


The VAIO BZ series systems are standard 15.4-inchers for consumers.
