You might, or might not be aware that Archos is actually a company and not a stupid little France name. But in case you didn't know about them, they are the makers of those 5 and 7 inch PMP's with Opera pre installed that you might have heard about.
But they're not just interested about focusing their energy on handheld PMP's and have decided to make a netbook which is their biggest product to date.
The $399 netbook comes with XP preinstalled, 1GB RAM, Atom N270 processor, 802.11b/g WiFi, 1.3 megapixel camera and of course a ten inch screen. The entire package weighs in at just under 3 pounds (2.8 to be exact), and also comes with $100 worth of multimedia and productivity software. You also get a $50 credit towards the Archos Media Club which allows you to download movies and television shows via their website.
There is also an option for a Free V-Tuner player that allows you to stream thousands of web TV channels and over 10,000 radio stations and your daily digest of podcasts.
Our first impressions is that this netbook stands out of the crowd for value. While it might not carry some category bending performance specs it still breaks free of the netbook crowd thanks to its software offerings.
