Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Dell today announced its redesigned Vostro business laptop PCs, which are thinner and lighter than previous generation Vostro laptops. The new notebook models are the 13.3-inch Vostro 1310, 15.4-inch 1510, and 17-inch 1710.
The 1310 is the first 13.3? model in the Dell Vostro series. The ultraportable weighs 4.6 pounds and starts at $749, while the 1510 weighs 5.7 pounds and has a starting price of $599. The both notebooks come with up to Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of system memory, a slot-load optical drive, as well as with Windows XP or Windows Vista preinstalled.
Dell says the new laptops feature enhanced security options such as fingerprint readers, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2 module, cable lock slot and factory-installed security software. The notebooks are fitted with only the software you need, so there is no trialware preinstalled. Dell also offers free services including 10GB of Dell DataSafe Online Backup, Network Assistant and PC TuneUp.

The Vostro 1310 and 1510 will hit the U.S. market on May 1st.
Details of the 1710, which is going to be released in mid May, are currently unknown.
