PhotoFast G-Monster-eSATA

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

The SATA age is already here, but most drives using it are still using technology that's a few decades old. Obviously, I am talking about "old school" hard drives. Anyway, the end is drawing near for them, as more and more SSDs hit the market. Today, the time has come for you and your laptop to meet the PhotoFast G-Monster-eSATA! That's quite a name, don't you think?

Unfortunately, the story about it isn't extremely juicy. Some of you may hate this simple black design, but since I am crazy about black gadgets, the G-Monster looks great to me. Anyway, this isn't about looks, because USB keys need two main features to attract: speed, and capacity - the order depends on the user...

The PhotoFast G-Monster-eSATA, is an eSATA/USB Key available in 32, 64 and 128GB capacities, using SSD storage on the eSATA/USB interface. If that's not good enough, what about 175MB/sec reads and 100MB/sec writes? Now, that's much better!

Unfortunately, no pricing and availability info can be found, but it seems this black beauty will start shipping by the end of the month in Japan. At last, no info about availability in the rest of the world, either...so dream on!
