SAMSUNG NC10-14GB QUICK REVIEW

Thursday, March 5, 2009

The Samsung NC10 has been categorized into one of the best ranks of 10-inch notebooks including the Eee PC 1000H, MSI Wind, and Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Although the starting price, around $499, of this NC10, is not as expensive as those three mentioned laptops, Samsung NC10 still holds the same specs as all the features equipped in its opponents.

1.6-GHz Intel Atom processor combined with 1GB of RAM Samsung NC10 could work optimally that Samsung NC10 could not easily get in trouble, in a word, you should reset it. Such frequent restarting would easily shorten the life duration of Samsung NC10, or even be completely ruined.

The matte lid and its rounded square edges provide the system more luxurious and interesting looking than its opponents such as MSI Wind or Eec PC 1000H. The artificial orange thin lines and glowing plus reddish orange status light offer a greater impression that you will not get bored if you operate Samsung NC10.

With 10.3 x 7.3 x 1.2 inches screen display and weighing 2.8 pounds we had no problem holding it on our lap in a tightly cramped train seat. When we walked around the city with the NC10 and its AC adapter in a shoulder bag (bringing the travel weight to 3.4 pounds) we felt no strain. 120GB of hard disk allows you to store a lot of movies, important data, etc. 5,400 rpm of speed provides you with reliable service in transferring and receiving data.

Unlike the Eee PC 1000H, the panel does not flex at all. The feel of the keys and the size of the keyboard isn’t all the NC10 has got going for it. In addition, the key which could position perfectly is also equipped in the NC10.

However, the disadvantage appeared in the NC10 is all about touchpad. The touchpad is small and vertically very narrow, therefore requiring more movement and backtracking. the mouse button, on the other hand, provides good function to separate the left and right sides, so that we do not get any troubles while problems clicking and are not required to press too hard on it to get a direct response.

And the last, the NC10 facilitates the general ports. Those are 3 USB ports, a 3-in-1 memory card reader, microphone and headphone jacks, a VGA port, and an Ethernet jack. Although the NC10 does not house an ExpressCard slot for adding a mobile broadband modem card, but you can always use a compact USB modem.

Price: Approx. $350
