Technology has launched the Companion Touch, an education-oriented tablet PC based on Intel’s new Convertible Classmate netbook.

Along with an 8.9-inch touchscreen display that automatically adjust to landscape or portrait mode depending on the orientation of the device, the Companion Touch includes the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, 4-cell battery, and Windows XP Home operating system.


The 2.8-pound device also features an embedded swivel 1.3-megapixel web camera, a built-in handle, and a skin that can be customized with school colors and logo.


Regarding communications, the Companion Touch sports 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN and Ethernet LAN, while the ports and slots include two USBs, a 2-in-1 media card reader, and VGA output.


The M&A Companion Touch is priced at $499.99.


Additionally, we have found CTL’s 2GO Convertible Classmate PC, which is basically the same netbook as the Companion Touch. The 2GO Convertible also costs $499.
