FIJITSU LIFEBOOK U820 FIRST LOOK

Monday, December 22, 2008

At $1,000 this is one of the most expensive netbook-esque laptops out there. But some guys over at NotebookReviews.com think its a good sell among certain audiences. I will hand it to Fujitsu though, they have the best battery life of any netbook around with the U820 clocking in over eight hours of juices on balanced power.

But the rest of the specs are a touch cell minus one? Intel Atom Z530 processor, Window's Vista Business, integrated webcam, fingerprint reader, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, 120GB Toshiba 4200 HDD, built in GPS receiver, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0 and Atheros XSPAN (802.11a/b/g/draft-n).

The system performs on par for a Atom powered system but multi tasking is going to carry a little strain on the CPU. The 5.6" WXGA Crystal View touch screen display is pretty tight and the GPS receiver provides a nice companion on long trips or if you're just board and have nothing better to watch your movements via satellite.

But as I said before, with a price tag in the 4 digit region this is going to be a touch cell taking into account you can get a similar system minus the GPS, Vista and extreme battery life for over half less.
