BEST LAPTOPS FOR UPGRADING

One of the major drawbacks to laptops versus desktops is that they allow fewer upgrade options. On a desktop anything is upgradeable except for the mother board (which in that case it would be better to buy a new system). But laptop manufacturers are slowly coming around to the fact that people might need more memory or a bigger HDD down the road and so they are allowing those options to present themselves to their buyers.

But you might not be 100% sure which option is best for you. My first advice is if you can afford it get everything what you need in your laptop from the start. But if you don't have the money or just want the option should you need the extra features later than here are a few systems to consider.

At the top of our list is the Sony AW series. I don't know if its because Sony specializes in laptops or is it because they have some of the best damn designers in the laptop market. Whichever it is the AW series provides many options for upgrade later on.

Toshiba Satellite Series is also a good pick. Toshiba has gotten a lot right in the notebook world especially with their business minded protege series notebooks. But their updated line of Satellite notebooks are also killer on performance and offers some great options for upgrading the system later on if you should so choose to do so.

Last but not least is HP dv5t. You might have recognized this laptop from our "Best Laptops of 2008" feature. One of the reasons why it made the list are the options for upgrading the notebook (before you buy it) and after you do.
