Asus N Environmentally Friendly Products Won EPEAT Gold

Included in the Asus N series laptops are the N50, N80, N10 and N20 models announced in September, and all won 9 EPEAT Gold Awards for being design with the environmental conservation in mind, meeting the EPEAT 8 Environmental Performance Categories requirements: Reduction or Elimination of Sensitive Materials, Materials Selection, Design for End of Life, Product Longevity/Life Cycle Extension, Energy Conservation, End of Life Management, Corporate Performance and Packaging.
Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool uses highest rated strict standard to rank Gold, Silver and Bronze products, while the Green Asus initiative covers Green Design, Green Procurement, Green Manufacturing, and Green Service and Marketing of its all notebook models.
Asus, which is the world’s first developer of a lead-free motherboard released in 2004, has over 50 Energy Star qualified laptop models featuring increased durability, reduced energy consumption and recyclable batteries/packaging.
Now, let’s take a look at these new Asus N series laptops. They all feature the Super Hybrid Engine in charge with allocating power automatically and saving this way 35% of the battery life, the Express Gate operating system with 8 seconds access time to programs, and the SmartLogon face recognition system that grants you access and logs you on automatically without pressing any button.
Asus N10 is a multimedia Internet device built for mobility and sports a 10.2-inch display, the Nvidia GeForce 9300M graphics card and an Intel Atom processor. In addition it can be configured with up to 320GB storage capacity, Windows Vista or XP operating system, up to 2GB DDR2 memory, External Super Multi optical drive to burn your CDs and DVDs, a built-in 1.3MP web camera, wireless connectivity with draft N support, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, all in a 1.40Kg system with the 3-cell battery.
Next comes the Asus N20 optimized for intensive operations with 12 hours of battery life. It has a 12.1-inch display, the Altec Lansing audio system, and an eSATA hard disk drive with dust and moisture resistance. Besides these main features, it comes with the Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 module, up to 4GB system memory, a built-in DVD Super Multi drive or Blu-Ray DVD Combo, 3.5G Antenna, and a 3-cell battery, all weighting just 1.85Kg.
Asus N80 is a business laptop providing a larger display of 14.1 inches, Nvidia GeForce 9 graphics card with 1GB dedicated memory, and Dolby Surround Sound system. Its display is a Glare Type with LED backlight and there are also a high definition audio chip from Intel and a 6-cell battery for 2.69Kg total system weight.
