Sony announced the availability of a new notebook series bringing high definition, Blu-ray and the world’s first 16.4-inch wide screen model with 1600 x 900 pixels. FW series of Sony Vaio laptop computer's design combines the sophisticated function complex of a professional notebook with a feminine stylish finish.


It is a portable multimedia computer weighting just 6 pounds, but that integrated the latest mobile technologies such as the XBRITE-HiColor LCD technology for ultra-sharp images, richer colors and no glare, and HDMI output for High-Definition TV connectivity.


"This PC is a multimedia masterpiece thoughtfully crafted to help consumers enjoy the full excitement of HD," said Mike Abary, senior vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics. "It's a shining example of how cutting-edge technologies can be brought together to unlock a world of high-definition entertainment."

We are not surprised to find the new Intel Centrino 2 technology powering this laptop, as Sony prefers to be up to date with the latest improvements such as increased performance and responsiveness, and higher energy efficiency. Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate adds the security such a professional configuration requires.

The new Sony Vaio laptop computer models brings 3 applications which you can play with, and these are: VAIO Movie Story for editing high-quality family movies, and VAIO Media for streaming content through the home network devices like gaming consoles. The Wireless-N technology support is not missing either.


The notebook measures 15.1 x 1.46 - 1.3 x 10.3 at a weight of 6.47 lbs with the 6-8 hours battery, integrating the following hardware components: an Intel Core 2 Duo with speeds ranging from 2.26GHz to 2.80GHz, up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM memory, up to 400GB HDD, Memory Stick Duo, ExpressCard slot, SD memory card slot, Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with Intel Clear Video technology and 1340MB memory, the Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset, VGA out, DVD-RW drive, optional Blu-ray Disc RW drive, optional BD combo drive, built-in camera and microphone, and Dolby Sound Room Audio technology for a 5.1-channel surround sound effect.

Coming in titanium gray and powder white, Sony Vaio FW has a starting price of $1,000 at which adds the cost for additional components to the basic configuration.
