Adding a new laptop computer powered by the Intel Centrino 2 processing technology to its Satellite Pro series, Toshiba is offering lower power consumption, increased battery life and support for the upcoming wireless draft N standard, which will enable the fastest wireless data transfer rates. The Satellite Pro S300 is the first model from the series featuring the EasyGuard technology for data protection, docking capabilities and business card reader.

EasyGuard design offers different protection levels via Protect & Fix, Secure, Connect and Optimize versions. It secures the laptop against bumps and bruises, adds durability to the display, spill resistance to the keyboard, encrypts the hard drive, prevents unauthorized users’ access via the fingerprint reader, and protects the data while surfing wirelessly via the ConfigFree software.

Available at $1,249, it includes the Windows Vista Business operating system pre-installed, an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor reaching 2.4GHz operating speeds, 3GB DDR2 SDRAM memory, 160GB HDD storage at 5400 rpm, a DVD-RW super multi double layer optical drive, Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100AGN, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD for increased graphic performance, optional Toshiba Express Port Replicator for easier cable management, USB Sleep-and-Charge, built-in 1.3MP web camera, built-in microphone, and a 15.4-inch TruBrite display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Using the web camera together with the business card reader you can take advantage of the macro function to scan business cards in order to store them on the computer, while the Sleep-and-Charge USB Port allows you to charge cell phones and MP3 players even when the laptop is turned off.

The S300 weights 6.2 lbs.

“The Toshiba Satellite Pro S300 laptop delivers the essential feature sets our customers need and more for an improved mobile computing experience at an incredible price point,” said Jeff Barney, general manager and vice president, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems. “The design of the Satellite Pro S300 laptop PC is a direct reflection of customer feedback, providing mobile professionals with innovative and reliable computing performance that gives them the freedom to work or explore when they need and want.”
