Toshiba Announces Qosmio G55, X305, F55 Laptops
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Toshiba today announced the expansion of its Qosmio entertainment notebook lineup with the Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55.
The company says the multimedia-oriented Qosmio G55 is “the world’s first notebook to incorporate a parallel media co-processor”, also used in Sony PlayStation 3.
“A 10-minute video can take an hour or more to transcode using a high performance processor. Offloading that work from the CPU to the TOSHIBA Quad Core HD Processor boosts the transcoding speed up to 10 times faster,” Toshiba explains.
The laptop features an 18.4-inch widescreen display with 16:9 aspect ratio, and up to 500GB of hard drive storage.
The Toshiba Qosmio X305, a 17-inch gaming notebook, sports the new NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX GPU with up to 1GB of video memory, dual hard drives with a total of up to 400GB of storage space, as well as DDR3 RAM. The X305 has an “aggressively bold chassis” and red-flamed Rogue design.
The Qosmio F55 is also designed for gamers and features a 15.4-inch display and the NVIDIA GeForce 9700 GTS graphics card. It’s Toshiba’s first laptop with a built-in GPS receiver.
REGZA LINK HDMI technology is present in every model in the announced Qosmio series. Toshiba describes that this feature enables simultaneous instant device configuration, and the ability to control REGZA LINK enabled devices, such as Toshiba’s REGZA HDTVs and a Qosmio laptop, with a single remote.
In addition, the new Qosmio systems include Harman Kardon bass reflex speakers with a built-in sub-woofer, and an eSATA port.
Regarding design, the laptops feature a new look, Fusion finish, touch-sensitive multimedia buttons, and a flush-mounted touchpad.
These Qosmio models will be available later this summer.
