Hewlett-Packard unveiled today details of the newly designed 17-inch HP Pavilion dv7t Entertainment Notebook PC, based on Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” platform.
The HP Pavilion dv7t includes Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor and Nvidia’s GeForce GS and GT dedicated GPUs. The laptop supports up to 4GB of RAM, up to 640GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray optical drive. Its 17? widescreen display has a resolution of 1440-by-900 or 1680-by-1050 pixels, depending on customer’s choice.
The HP dv7t sports an 802.11b/g wireless LAN module or the new Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100AGN supporting 802.11n draft standard. The notebook has an optional Bluetooth module, and an Ethernet LAN port, but it does not include a built-in modem, according to a specifications sheet.
The new mobile multimedia system features an optional TV tuner, Altec Lansing stereo speakers, optional web camera and fingerprint reader, HDMI and VGA outputs, four USB ports (4th shared with eSATA port), an ExpressCard slot, 5-in-1 media card reader, and Infrared receiver.
The notebook weighs approximately 5.5 pounds. HP says its 15.4-inch dv5t and 14.1-inch dv4t laptops also weigh around 5.5 pounds. It is unusual that the 1.4.1?, 15.4? and 17? models have the same weight.
The HP Pavilion dv7t includes a full-size keyboard with a numeric pad and the newly designed high-glossy HP Imprint 2 Mesh finish with a grid-like pattern in onyx and chrome.
The laptop runs Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit operating system and is expected to be available in July.
