The 4GB DDR3 notebook modules were sampled by Micron to demonstrate the highest density DDR3 modules consisting of 2GB components, for notebook computers.

These new models are delivering high-speeds, high-density and low power ranging from 512MB to 4GB versions, after receiving the Intel validation for its Intel Centrino 2 processor technology mobile platform.

Notebooks using these new modules will reach higher performance and lower power consumption, besides the 1333Mbps data rates for improved graphics.
From 1.8V of DDR2 the DDR3 supply voltage operates at 1.5V which means 30% lower power consumed.

“Micron is developing DDR3 memory products that will support Intel’s high-performance desktop, workstation, server, and mobile platforms in 2008,” declared Ali Sarabi, Director of Industry Initiatives and Pathfinding at Intel Corporation. “The DDR3 architecture and products are key to Intel’s leadership product roadmap.”

The mass production of the latest Micron DDR3 memory modules will start in Q2 2008.
