HP 2133 Mini-Note PC Officially Launched

Hewlett-Packard has officially launched the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, the company’s first 8.9-inch ultraportable laptop.

The notebook, aimed at education market, starts at $499. It weighs from 2.63 to 3.23 pounds, depending on configuration. It is powered by VIA’s C7-M ULV processor and the Chrome 9 integrated graphics, which manages the 8.9? 1280 x 768 display. The clock speeds of the CPU in the HP 2133 are from 1GHz to 1.6GHz, depending on model. This laptop supports up to 2GB of DDR2 667MHz main memory, and comes with up to 160GB of hard drive storage. Optionally, there is a 64GB solid-state drive or 4GB Flash drive.

The HP 2133 Mini-Note PC also features an optional web camera, built-in stereo speakers and microphones, the Broadcom 802.11a/b/g or b/g wireless module, optional Bluetooth 2.0, a Gigabit Ethernet connection, two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, Secure Digital (SD) slot, and a VGA output.

It has a 92% full-sized keyboard, accompanied by a touchpad with scroll zone.

NotebookReview reports the HP 2133 provides 2 hours and 15 minutes of battery life with the standard 3-cell battery, and 4 hours and 11 minutes with the 6-cell extended life battery.

Regarding operating systems, the Mini-Note ships with Windows Vista Business, Vista Home Basic, FreeDOS, or SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 preinstalled. SuSE Linux is preloaded onto the optional 4GB Flash Module.

Hewlett-Packard says the 2133, also known as “HP Mini”, is expected be available later this month.
