ECS Reveals Details on their Eee PC Competitor

ECS showcased the ECS G10IL first at CeBIT this year with an Intel Diamondville (Atom) CPU.The GSM Association (GSMA) awarded the ECS G10IL as winners for its Mobile Broadband Notebook competition.
The G10IL notebook from ECS in their entry into the sub-notebook market for mass users. The 11-incher from ECS comes with built-in tri-band HSDPA and HSUPA, also called the "Super-3G" technology. The new broadband video technology allows downloads speeds of up to 7.2Mb/s for the HSDPA and 2Mb/s for the HSUPA. The ECS G10IL comes with three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet networking, a 56 kbps analog modem, WLAN and Bluetooth, and a 4-in-one card reader.
It also features integrated 1.3MP WebCam for video conferencing. ECS plans to release the G10IL in two form factors - 10.2" and 8.9" (diagonal size of LCD).

ECS plans to release the G10IL later this year with both Windows XP and some Linux distribution. No details regarding the price point of the Eee PC competitors from ECS are available so far. The 3G mobile broadband, bigger display size and Windows XP will surely hike the prices, so it may end up being not very affordable. We'd love to be wrong on this one, prove us wrong ECS!
