Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 and IdeaPad Y510 with Face Recognition Capability
Tuesday, January 29, 2008The latest notebook models released by Lenovo and with the specifications published on the official website are IdeaPad Y710 and IdeaPad Y510, both coming with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 32 operating system pre-installed, 6-cell Li-Ion batteries that last for up to 4 hours in working time, and face recognition capability.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 processor with 2.5 GHz speed, 6 MB L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB, and a memory of 2GB at 667MHz, but you may add up to 4GB.
The ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 video card with its 256 MB dedicated memory is capable to display great graphics on the 17-inch WXGA display with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and integrating the VibrantView technology.
Next we have a S-ATA hard drive of up to 500GB storage at 5400 rpm, and an optional Dual-Layer CD/DVD recordable unit with Blu-ray DVD reader.
The notebook has also a built-in 1.3MP camera, 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer Dolby Home Theater for a great sound experience, while the slots and ports include ESB, HDMI, IEEE 1394, VGA, S-VIDEO, Express Card, microphone input jack, headphone jack, and a 6-in-1 card reader compatible with SD/SD Pro, MS/MS Pro, MMC and XD card types.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 supports modem connections, 10/100 Ethernet, and Intel RO/Wireless 4965AGN technology.
It also includes useful software such as VeriFace 2.0, EasyCapture 2.5, OneKey Recovery 4.65, Energy Cut 2.1, Adobe Reader 8.0, Power2GO 5.5, Shuttle Center 2.0, Norton Antivirus 2007 90-day trial, Microsoft Windows Live portal and Microsoft Office trial.
This notebook model measures 395mm x 285mm x 26-39mm (15.6? x 11.2? x 1?-1.5?) and weights 3.58 kg (7.9 lb) with the battery.
The other model that features face recognition is Lenovo IdeaPad Y510, a smaller version with a 15.4-inch WXGA display with VibrantView and 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, measuring 362mm x 260mm x 29.2-36.2mm (14.3? x 10.2? x 1.1?-1.4?), and weighting 2.90 kg (6.4 lb) with the battery.
The processor that powers the notebook is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 with a speed of 1.83 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache and 667 MHz FSB, while it can integrate up to 4GB of memory, exactly like the previous model.
Video graphics are ensured by an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with up to 256MB memory, and the S-ATA hard drive (5400rpm) has a smaller storage, with up to 250GB.
We encounter a built-in camera of 1.3MP here too and the same sound system as previous model described.
The optical drive here is a dual layer CD/DVD recordable and for connectivity Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 comes with support for 10/100 Ethernet, modem, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG or 4965AGN, 3 USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, VGA, S-VIDEO, a 6-in-1 card reader, Express Card slot, and microphone/headphone jacks.
It includes the same software as IdeaPad Y710 but also a battery indicator light, and will be available starting January 6 at a price of $800, while the Y710 costs $1,200 and its availability will start on January 10.
